ABOUT
Bay Area Festivals is an award-winning producer of family-oriented festivals and fairs presented around the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

Known for our marketing expertise and customer service, Bay Area Festivals produces our events as well as supplying our services to existing events for specific needs such as entertainment, vendor solicitation and coordination, and providing children’s activities.


Currently, we present Bay Area KidFest, Camp & School Fairs, Bay Area Kids’ Book Fairs, Super Holiday Boutiques, Contra Costa Con, Lamorinda Home Show, San Pablo 4th of July Multi-Cultural Celebration, Super Valentine’s Boutique and Concord Oktoberfest.


Besides our events, we have worked with Kaiser Permanente, KNBR Radio and Cumulus Media, City of Walnut Creek, Diablo Futbol Club, The Great Wall of Oakland, City of Martinez, Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce, Visit Concord, City of San Pablo, Lamorinda Presents, The Brewing Network and Tesoro Golden Eagle Refinery. We assisted these organizations in the production of Oakland Cat Video Fest, Walnut Creek FamilyFest, KNBR Big League Dreams Baseball Skills Clinics, 50th Anniversary Concord Jazz Festival, Pittsburg Seafood & Music Festival, Bay Area FamilyFest and the 100th Anniversary of Golden Eagle Refinery, among many others.


​Bay Area KidFest supports a variety of local health, youth sports and educational non-profit organizations. Our events have generated over $80,000 in cash donations to local non-profits as well as 55,000+ pounds of canned food donations to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
We are a member of CalFest, Lamorinda Presents, Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce and Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.

Our dedicated Bay Area Festivals staff has over 150 combined years of experience producing Bay Area KidFest over the past three decades, supervising all aspects of the three-day event, including vendors, entertainment, food service, security, parking, maintenance, risk management, box office, rides, customer relations, volunteers, children’s activities, setup and takedown, recycling and (about) a million other things!

HISTORY
Bay Area Festivals started in 2009 when San Francisco native Jay Bedecarre took over as producer of Bay Area KidFest. Jay Bedecarre began in the event industry in the Bay Area in the 1970s and since that time has produced and marketed over 2000 events. 

Bedecarre was part of the administrative staff when the Concord Pavilion opened in 1975, where he marketed concerts and special events, including 4 United States Olympic Trials and the Concord Jazz Festival for over a quarter century. At the Pavilion he was the marketing and booking manager for its diverse programming that included rock, R&B/soul/hip hop, classical, country and pop music, jazz, dance, theater and a variety of other performances, sports and community events.


He also owned a full-service advertising and public relations agency, served as events and communications manager of a large Northern California trade association and has now operated Bay Area Festivals for over 10 years.

AWARDS AND HONORS
Jay Bedecarre was feted by the City of Concord and Pavilion General Manager John Toffoli, Jr. as “The Man who made the Concord Pavilion known to the World.”

Bay Area KidFest was voted Best of the Best in the 2019 reader’s poll by BayAreaParent as the Best Family Event or Community Fair/Festival in the East Bay. There were a record-breaking number of votes in that poll with KidFest winning among 19 nominees.

The readers of Claycord website have also voted Bay Area KidFest as the Best Community Event every year the poll’s been held since 2010.

Visit Concord named Bedecarre the 2019 winner of its Tourism Advocate Award.

The Arts & Culture Commission of Contra Costa County recognized Bedecarre with its annual award in 2016 for “making a significant artistic or philanthropic contribution to Contra Costa's Arts and Culture.”
CalFest, the California/Nevada Festivals & Events Association, has honored Bay Area Festivals with multiple marketing awards.

Bedecarre was presented in 2009 with the City of Concord’s Lifetime Achievement Award from the Concord Human Relations Commission.​
